"What on earth can you learn from the kangaroos?  Much.  But I'm not referring to those cute animals that can zoom around in leaps and bounds.

It was April 2001.  The mighty Australians stepped onto the Indian soil.  Termed by many as the greatest cricket team ever, the conquistadors arrived led by their captain, the very resilient Steve Waugh.  Over the decade they had won tough Test matches in almost all parts of the world from South Africa to the Caribbeans and Pakistan to England.  There is something you can pick up from them.

Guess what?

Naw…Naw…Naw mate!  I'm not talking about drinking gallons of beer.  Nor am I asking you to laze around on beaches watching beautiful babes or sip Bacardy [sic] rum.  That's not quite it.

Remember the press conferences, the talks, the dressing room banter, the articles these athletes wrote or just the interviews.  There was a phrase that kept repeating itself.

'We make our own luck.'
'We make our own luck.'
'We make our own luck.'

They have understood the basic success principal.  No wonder they are the best team on the planet.  Hmmm…Gives us something to think about.  Doesn't it?"

today we learned a lesson near and dear to my heart…even if you are a raging alcoholic drinking gallons of beer or lazily watching babes on the beach while drinking bacardi, you too can be successful!!

and speaking of making your own luck…win 1000 entrecard credits by guessing when my phone will be operational again.

  1. Great story, not being a Cricket follower I had not heard it before. This same description may apply to about 199 million folks in the US, but it is still a great story. Good or bad, we mkae our own luck. And fits your tale of woe very well.
    My guess-

  2. Funny and witty. And I agree, we do make our own luck! A little optimism doesn’t hurt, either!
Your phone will be working today, Nov 19th!
